Jali looks ahead to the future Posted on 30 July 2010 - 15:06 Orlando Pirates midfielder Andile Jali has taken a very positive stance from the disappointment of missing out on the Jet Club PSL Rookie of the Year award on Thursday.
This after he was pipped to the title by Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona who scooped the award.
“I am very disappointed that I didn’t win the main prize. But it’s not the end of the world because there are bigger challenges to focus on in the new season. I knew the competition was very tough and there could only be one winner. All I can say is well done to Knowledge Musona…and as for me, it’s back to work,” Jali told Orlandopiratesfc.com.
“To be honest, I think I have achieved more than I could wish for considering that 2009/10 season was my first season in the premiership. So, despite missing out on the Jet Club PSL Rookie of the Year and PSL ‘HOT’ Young Player of the Season awards.... winning the club’s Most Promising Prospect of the Season and Jet Club PSL Rookie of the Month (August 2009) certainly proved that I have the potential to be the best in the future.
“Another thing, the fact that I have been part of Bafana Bafana squad from the first training camp in preparation for the 2010 World Cup further shows that with more hard work and focus, I will definitely make the Bafana Bafana team for 2014 World Cup in Brazil,” added Jali.
Back at training with the club after spending last weekend in camp with the national Under-23 squad, Jali is optimistic Bucs will lift at least one major trophy in the 2010/11 campaign.
“Of course, we are determined to win at least one major trophy this season. There’s no doubt that with the team we have we can cause a lot of damage but I don’t want to talk too much about that, let that happen in the field of play,” concluded the 20-year-old.
